Thailand has received investment applications worth more than $26.8 billion for semiconductor and advanced electronics projects over the past three years. The scale of the proposed capital places high-technology manufacturing at the center of the country's effort to benefit from the reorganization of global supply chains.

The Thai Board of Investment recorded 880 high-technology project applications between 2023 and the middle of 2026. Printed circuit boards represented the largest single segment, accounting for 224 projects with a combined value of $9.85 billion.

The investment agency linked the inflows to expanding demand for artificial intelligence, next-generation semiconductors, electric vehicles and high-performance computing. Those markets require increasingly sophisticated components and are encouraging manufacturers to add capacity outside established production hubs.

Board of Investment Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi described Thailand as a major global production base for printed circuit boards. He said more than half of the world's leading PCB manufacturers have selected the country and are expanding operations there.

The expansion is also intended to connect domestic suppliers with international technology networks. By bringing component makers and specialized production into the same industrial ecosystem, the projects could deepen local participation beyond final assembly.

Thailand's advanced electronics market is projected to reach between $48 billion and $52 billion in 2026. Pitharn Ongkosit, president of the Thailand Printed Circuit Association, expects semiconductor and advanced packaging segments to grow by 15 to 20 percent annually.

Demand associated with artificial-intelligence servers and data-center infrastructure is rising by as much as 22 percent a year. Together, the investment applications and sector forecasts indicate that advanced electronics is becoming a core industrial driver as Thailand positions itself inside a more geographically distributed technology supply chain.
