Chinese President Xi Jinping met Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing and called for sustained strategic communication between the two governments.
Xi said China and Belarus should continue advancing bilateral ties, which he described as already being at a high level, so that cooperation produces greater benefits for both populations.
He reaffirmed China's support for Belarus in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, as well as in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions. Xi also said Beijing was willing to continue providing assistance within its capabilities.
Xi characterised the two countries as trusted friends, development partners and all-weather comprehensive strategic partners. He said their relationship had endured changes in the international environment and was now at its strongest historical point.
The Chinese president highlighted political trust, cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, progress on key projects and coordination in multilateral affairs. He called for resources from different sectors to be mobilised to expand that cooperation.
Xi also urged closer coordination in multilateral frameworks, presenting China and Belarus as a potential stabilising force in an unsettled world. He linked that objective to China's broader global initiatives.
Lukashenko praised the depth of practical cooperation with China and said it had provided important support for Belarus's economic and social development. He called for stronger strategic communication, broader areas of cooperation and closer coordination on international and regional issues.
