Brazil is expanding its humanitarian operation in Venezuela through a fifth relief flight and a ministerial mission to Caracas. The effort combines emergency medical support, logistics and bilateral coordination after earthquakes caused extensive destruction in the neighboring country.
Defense Minister José Múcio Monteiro is scheduled to meet Venezuelan authorities in Caracas on June 30, including Defense Minister Gustavo González López. The talks are intended to reinforce Brazil's assistance to displaced communities and discuss support for rebuilding the areas affected by the earthquakes.
The fifth humanitarian aircraft will depart from Galeão Air Base in Rio de Janeiro. Its cargo includes equipment to expand the field hospital already operating in La Guaira, one of the main logistical points of the Brazilian response.
The flight will also carry approximately 5.5 tonnes of supplies provided by Brazil's Health Ministry. The shipment includes medicines and rapid diagnostic tests requested by the Venezuelan government, with Brazilian authorities stating that the donation will not reduce stocks available to the national public health system.
The operation creates a direct assistance corridor between Rio de Janeiro, Caracas and La Guaira. Five flights, a functioning field hospital and a dedicated medical shipment show that the response has moved beyond an initial emergency delivery toward a sustained support structure.
Brazil's role now extends from transporting supplies to coordinating recovery. The Caracas meetings will determine how the air bridge, medical deployment and reconstruction assistance can be connected into a longer-term response for affected Venezuelan communities.
