Chinese President Xi Jinping said Beijing considers its relationship with Myanmar a priority within China's neighborhood diplomacy.

Xi made the remarks during talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, who was in China for a state visit.

The Chinese leader said Beijing supports Myanmar's government in coordinating development and security as it charts the country's future course.

He also emphasized the importance of finding a development path suited to Myanmar's national conditions.

Xi said that path should also command support among the country's population, linking domestic legitimacy with the pursuit of stability and economic development.
