China Launches 22nd Group of Low-Orbit Internet Satellites

A Long March-12 rocket lifted off from a commercial space launch site in Hainan and successfully placed China's 22nd group of low-orbit internet satellites into their planned orbit.

China launched a new group of low-orbit internet satellites on June 17 aboard a Long March-12 carrier rocket from the southern island province of Hainan.

The rocket lifted off at 10:44 a.m. Beijing time from a commercial spacecraft launch site in the province. The flight proceeded as planned.

The payload was successfully placed into its designated orbit after launch. No technical difficulties were indicated during the mission.

The satellites form the 22nd group in China's low-Earth-orbit internet satellite deployment program. The mission added another batch of spacecraft to the country's expanding orbital network.

The launch also marked another operational use of the Long March-12 from Hainan's commercial launch infrastructure, combining a domestically developed carrier rocket with a site intended for commercial space missions.
